Its a band full of energy and euphoria, not only capable of creating incredibly catchy songs but also delivering an auditory experience that heightens the senses. Regarding their incredible instrumental work, Sara, the vocalist, asserts herself with originality and incredible flair. Her melodies traverse powerful vocal lines with filtering effects that inspire a sense of empowerment, transitioning to harmonies that are simply celestial, inviting the listener to undergo a complete auditory catharsis.

No Rest

Gabriel A. Pentin, the mastermind behind the sensational band known as Self Torque, has re-entered the music scene with the release of "No Rest." Following the highly anticipated wait since the debut of "Impending Sense Of Doom," Self Torque's inaugural EP in February, the band is back to enchant rock enthusiasts worldwide.

Amidst the rapid changes of our world, "No Rest" emerges as an anthem for those navigating their own paths in life, often feeling overshadowed by expectations and overlooking the journey that brought them to the present. Gabriel elaborates on the song's origin, stating; “No Rest started from the frustration of not being able to write a song, the opening line is “When will the inspiration come, when will things start to be fun?” It’s kind of about not knowing where to start with life. It’s based on not being able to do anything in yourself, but also recognising how far you’ve come”.

Self Torque skillfully blends elements from various subgenres, encompassing punk rock, indie, and pop rock. This fusion creates a captivating musical journey from the onset of each song, evoking a profound sense of 90s nostalgia reminiscent of bands like AFI and Alkaline Trio, yet preserving the band's authentic and distinctive essence.

With an energetic sound and a genuine message, Self Torque's songs offer an experience akin to engaging in a profound conversation with oneself elevated to the next level. It's a dialogue where you can express anything and even challenge your own thoughts, presenting a fresh approach to self-reflection.

Carousel

The pandemic lockdown was an event that definitely marked our lives forever. While isolation gradually became a habit, many of us still feel that things never returned to how they were before. In the midst of this chaos, Ivan Beecroft, a talented musician and composer from Melbourne, Australia, emerges as an immensely relevant figure in the world of music, where his latest release invites us to reflect on this intense period of our lives that has left wounds still open to this day.

"Carousel," his latest studio release, officially premiered on June 15, 2021, and is now returning as his new promotional single, inviting us to experience how music sometimes not only shines for its magnificence in composition but also serves as a vehicle that carries a strong message.

By combining elements from various rock genres such as alternative, garage, and stoner rock, Ivan Beecroft showcases his skill not only as a musician but also as an incredible composer and lyricist. With an authentic sound that strikes the perfect balance between the nostalgia of the '90s rock scene and a powerful, modern sound with recording techniques, his music leaves a lasting impression on listeners from the first listen. His creations aim not only to captivate with the sound of electrifying electric guitar riffs, energetic percussion, and powerful voices that resonate like a true anthem of struggle but also because of the profound background hidden behind each of his songs.

Drawing inspiration from the renowned work "Nineteen Eighty-Four" by the acclaimed writer George Orwell, "Carousel" began to take shape spontaneously, becoming the true rock banger it is today. Ivan explains, "The inspiration for the song came from rereading George Orwell’s 1984 the month before - the song seemed to write itself one day in my dining room. During that time, there was a constant barrage of press conferences with slogans reminiscent of Orwellian Newspeak, such as 'staying apart keeps us together.'"

In this way, "Carousel" arrives to establish itself as a banner of struggle for our frustration, expressing what we all want to say but often omit due to a lack of courage.

Into The Otherside

November 24, 2023, marks a significant milestone for The Listros, a talented musical duo hailing from Toronto, Canada, as they debut in the musical scene with the release of their first rock anthem titled "Into The Otherside."
Comprising the brothers Sean and Evan Listro, The Listros have truly shaken the current music panorama with this release. They immediately stood out in the crowd, thanks to their energetic and electrifying sound, already accumulating over 7000 plays on Spotify.

But what sets this band apart? It's their ability to merge and mix a wide range of rock sub-genres into a single entity—from garage rock with a strong 90's raw sound influence to elements of indie and pop rock. They create their own reimagination of what Alternative rock means.

"Into the Otherside" is just the beginning of their musical journey, offering a small sneak peek of what's to come. Currently in the studio, they are preparing their forthcoming debut EP with the participation of renowned musicians such as Exclap (2x Juno and 2x Gold Winning Songwriter & Producer) and Ross Hayes (Juno Nominated Producer). This collaboration proves that The Listros are here to stay and leave a lasting mark on music history.

Unfamiliar To Me

You don't need an immense number of musicians to create a great band. Iris Blue, the talented indie rock duo from Chicago, is a perfect testament to that. Comprising Quinn Pokora on guitars and lead vocals, and Dave Catanese on percussion, this incredible band is here to gift us their latest masterpiece titled "Unfamiliar to Me."

Blending elements of alternative rock, indie-rock, and pop-rock, both musicians combine their talents with incredible synergy that is palpable from the first note. This gives rise to a sound that achieves a perfect balance between studio production of the highest quality and an organic tone that manages to seep into the depths of the listeners' soul.

"Unfamiliar to Me" delves into the nostalgia and complexity of facing the feeling of being lost in oneself during our twenties. It's a time when we're unsure whether to pursue our dreams, continue fighting for an impossible love, or choose the safer path that life presents to us.

Through the use of various metaphors, a solid lyrical composition, and a sound that evokes a sense of calm, this song, despite carrying an intense message of reflection, invites us to stay calm in the storm and remain steadfast in our ideals even when they are difficult to attain.

Clearly, the guys from Iris Blue chose the challenging path, as music itself tends to be a journey full of ups and downs. However, the success each of their songs has had throughout their career proves that sometimes we give up just before finding what we have been yearning for. "Unfamiliar To Me" has accumulated almost 29,000 plays on Spotify to date, making it their most successful release to date and indicating a truly promising future for the band. It encourages listeners to venture into the things they desire most deeply and stay true to ourselves.

Drown

Canadian metalcore outfit The Northern have released “Drown,” the second single in partnership with Blood Blast Distribution.

Still riding the success of “Usurper,” which was deemed “a sonic experience that is both cathartic and thought-provoking,” The Northern are keeping their momentum at an all-time high with the release of “Drown.” Galloping instrumentation, passionate lyricism, and soaring melodies only begin to describe the sonic experience throughout this meaningful anthem of finding hope in the shadows.

Vocalist Mike Cutway describes his perspectives on the lyrical themes of the track, “It was a self reflection on how I was feeling. I wanted something to give me a glimmer of hope in a negative moment in time when all I wanted was things to end. I knew that if I remained optimistic, I may find a light in the darkest of times.” A feeling I’m sure many of The Northern’s new and long-time listeners alike can relate to.

Drummer Adam Linka adds to the sentiment, “It’s about drowning in your own negative thoughts and the growing pains of becoming an adult, realizing what life is all about. How when we’re kids anything seems possible, we think all people have good intentions, we’re filled with imagination and optimism, only to find out the world can be an ugly and scary place sometimes. The take away though, is that life can still be beautiful and that everybody goes through hard times. Live in the present and don’t let your past consume you.” Truly words of wisdom for all of us to embrace.
