Carousel

The pandemic lockdown was an event that definitely marked our lives forever. While isolation gradually became a habit, many of us still feel that things never returned to how they were before. In the midst of this chaos, Ivan Beecroft, a talented musician and composer from Melbourne, Australia, emerges as an immensely relevant figure in the world of music, where his latest release invites us to reflect on this intense period of our lives that has left wounds still open to this day.

"Carousel," his latest studio release, officially premiered on June 15, 2021, and is now returning as his new promotional single, inviting us to experience how music sometimes not only shines for its magnificence in composition but also serves as a vehicle that carries a strong message.

By combining elements from various rock genres such as alternative, garage, and stoner rock, Ivan Beecroft showcases his skill not only as a musician but also as an incredible composer and lyricist. With an authentic sound that strikes the perfect balance between the nostalgia of the '90s rock scene and a powerful, modern sound with recording techniques, his music leaves a lasting impression on listeners from the first listen. His creations aim not only to captivate with the sound of electrifying electric guitar riffs, energetic percussion, and powerful voices that resonate like a true anthem of struggle but also because of the profound background hidden behind each of his songs.

Drawing inspiration from the renowned work "Nineteen Eighty-Four" by the acclaimed writer George Orwell, "Carousel" began to take shape spontaneously, becoming the true rock banger it is today. Ivan explains, "The inspiration for the song came from rereading George Orwell’s 1984 the month before - the song seemed to write itself one day in my dining room. During that time, there was a constant barrage of press conferences with slogans reminiscent of Orwellian Newspeak, such as 'staying apart keeps us together.'"

In this way, "Carousel" arrives to establish itself as a banner of struggle for our frustration, expressing what we all want to say but often omit due to a lack of courage.

Garden Of Lies

Vermont post-rock outfit New Saviors have released their moody and immersive new single “Garden of Lies” across streaming platforms.

“Garden of Lies” is the follow-up to their Personal Hell EP, which was released earlier this year to great success. If you track the trajectories of any major act within the alternative music scene, it’s often experimentation and authenticity that kickstart a band’s grasp on the industry. New Saviors are ready for that kind of evolution and have delivered it with this latest single, exploring a dark and moody sonic landscape that would fit alongside notable acts as Imminence, Parkway Drive, and In This Moment.

New Saviors have always addressed topics that they hold close to them, but the message of “Garden of Lies” holds a tremendous weight like none other in their discography. “This song is our most ballsy callout to date,” says vocalist Mick King. She continues, “It’s about people who hide behind religion to justify their hateful words and actions. We poured our hearts, souls, and personal experiences into this track, and we want to use our platform to address issues like this because nobody has an excuse to do harm to others.”

“Garden of Lies” was mixed and mastered by Nick Matzkows (Attack Attack, Conquer Divide, Until I Wake), who brought a fresh voice and production quality to this single. New Saviors have consistent releases and touring scheduled through 2024, so get ready, because you’ll be seeing their name a lot in the months to follow.

Vocalist Mike Cutway describes his perspectives on the lyrical themes of the track, “It was a self reflection on how I was feeling. I wanted something to give me a glimmer of hope in a negative moment in time when all I wanted was things to end. I knew that if I remained optimistic, I may find a light in the darkest of times.” A feeling I’m sure many of The Northern’s new and long-time listeners alike can relate to.

Drummer Adam Linka adds to the sentiment, “It’s about drowning in your own negative thoughts and the growing pains of becoming an adult, realizing what life is all about. How when we’re kids anything seems possible, we think all people have good intentions, we’re filled with imagination and optimism, only to find out the world can be an ugly and scary place sometimes. The take away though, is that life can still be beautiful and that everybody goes through hard times. Live in the present and don’t let your past consume you.” Truly words of wisdom for all of us to embrace.
