Alt-rock band Atomsmasher has released its latest single, Angela, now available on all major streaming platforms. The new track marks a notable shift in the band's sound, moving away from its signature guitar-driven approach in favor of a brighter synth-rock style inspired by the spirit of late-1970s and early-1980s new wave.

Built around pulsing synthesizers, crisp guitar work, a steady mid-tempo groove, and layered vocal harmonies, Angela embraces a direct and melodic approach while intentionally avoiding irony. According to singer, guitarist, and songwriter Ed Erenberg, the song comes from a more personal place than many of the band's previous releases.

The single follows Atomsmasher's 2025 comeback album, Keep This Secret, their first full-length release in more than a decade. While that record reintroduced the band's blend of layered guitars, tight arrangements, dark humor, and hook-driven songwriting, Angela explores a more open and heartfelt direction without abandoning the melodic craftsmanship that has defined the band's music.

Originally formed in suburban New York, Atomsmasher has built a diverse catalog spanning power-pop, alternative rock, and more experimental styles. The band features Ed Erenberg on vocals and guitar, Brett Erenberg on keyboards, Matt DeSilva on bass, and Alex Erenberg on drums.

Over the years, Atomsmasher has released Up & Atom (1998), All Around the World (2004), Each Day Is Better Than the Next (2014), and returned in 2025 with Keep This Secret, followed by the 2026 singles Cartoon Violence, Lovely Head, and now Angela.
