Carley Varley has just released "Butterflies", the second single from her forthcoming "Anatomy of Loss" EP. The track explores the emotional weight of heartbreak and the stages of grief that follow the end of a relationship, pairing Carley’s raw, expressive vocals with prominent lead guitars that give the song its bittersweet, memorable quality.

Centered on themes of loss and betrayal, "Butterflies" draws on metaphors of experimentation, flight and deception to reflect the moment of realizing that someone once trusted was not who they seemed to be. The EP was conceived after Carley went through a divorce in 2024, a period she transformed into deeply personal songwriting and artistic focus.
Carley performs alongside Fred Sedgeley, Jordan Shepherd and Alex Tompkins. Formed in 2023, the band is now active across the South West, based in Winchester and Bournemouth. They have performed at established venues and festivals including The Bedford, Spice of Life Soho, The Half Moon Putney, Icebreaker Festival, Poole Harbour Festival, Dorchester Cider Festival and Teddy Rocks. Festival performances are planned for 2026, with tour dates set to be announced in the spring.
"Butterflies" marks the second chapter of "Anatomy of Loss", an EP that will explore the five stages of grief. Three additional tracks are scheduled for release throughout 2026 and 2027, covering denial, bargaining and acceptance.
If you’ve connected with the emotion behind "Butterflies", you’re invited to follow Carley Varley and stay up to date with her upcoming releases and live announcements!
